Thomas Hussey is an accomplished architect and urban designer focused on the design of cities, districts, and large, complex architectural projects. Leading multidisciplinary design teams, Tom creatively addresses challenges and opportunities emerging from cities around the globe, positioning them for enduring growth and prosperity.

Tom has guided the master plan for The 78, a new neighborhood district shaping the next generation of urban communities and renewing Chicago’s commitment to its city center. Winning the global design competition to shape China’s model “city of the future,” Tom has led an interdisciplinary team to implement a net zero master plan that integrates mobility, energy, transportation and technology for healthier living in harmony with nature.

Urban design is about uniting disciplines and designing solutions that aren’t otherwise possible in isolation. Together we create aspirational visions and spatial frameworks for people and communities to thrive, aligning emerging technology and sustainable design measures to realize change on a larger scale.

With every project, Tom considers the unique social, economic, and environmental conditions inherent in each site to generate visions attuned to local culture and context. This holistic, integrated approach to design underlies solutions for improved livability and sustainability, and has resulted in award-winning projects from Beijing to Riyadh to Panama City.
