Savills Studley – Chicago

When Savills Studley moved its Chicago headquarters to a new tower in the city’s West Loop, it turned to SOM to design a space that met the diverse, changing needs of its team. Located inside the new 150 N. Riverside tower at the junction of the three branches of the Chicago River, the modern, daylit office features elegant materials and an open, flexible layout. Working closely with the Savills Studley team, SOM crafted a design that reflects the commercial real estate firm’s current needs and anticipates how the team will work in the future.

Occupying a single floor of the tower, the 16,500-square-foot space incorporates a variety of workspace typologies to meet the team’s diverse needs. Employing a palette of dark wood, polished stone, and finished metal, the space offers team members refined spaces for collaboration, client meetings, independent work, conversation, and relaxation. To maximize the tower’s floor-to-ceiling views of the Chicago River and the surrounding neighborhood, meeting spaces, conference rooms, and equal-sized private offices are glass-enclosed, while semi-private and collaborative workspaces are open. Small, private study rooms provide quiet spaces for phone calls.

At the heart of the office, a cafe and lounge offers employees a stunning view of the city. Furnished with couches, booths, cafe tables, and a counter lined with stools, the spaces foster interaction and a sense of community. A second cafe area adjacent to reception provides space for informal work sessions with clients.

Designed to facilitate well-being, collaboration, and community, the new Savills Studley Chicago office efficiently meets the diverse needs of the firm’s growing team.
